LOST & FOUND
(FIRST ROUND)
An installation in two parts.
LOST & FOUND (first round) is the first iteration
of a constantly evolving project.
The first display presents an array of personal ‘losses’ that I captured on 35mm film over a decade. Each is shown with equal prominence in a comfortable setting and explores varying degrees of loss.
The second part of this installation exhibits film and photography that has been forgotten, thrown away or left behind. Strangers losses are shown through family photos & salvaged negatives.
Discarded volatile and toxic Nitrate film was painstakingly scanned in short strips, then pieced make together into video. Exploring every frame, I was able to find out where much of it had come from. Much of the can was footage from a Metropolitan Waterboard film- possibly unused footage from a Pathé newsreel from the late 1940's.
